we don't know really how big this might become. we know there's a fairly good chance this cluster of storms you have on the map might become a named storm. emily would be the next one. don was a bit of a dud. maybe emily will but you never know, this might be something it could be, maybe the best next to katrina. you never know. these storms form and veer off to the north and usually avoid much of the islands in some of the east coast. there's always the scenario we could see this take a trajectory, make affect the leeward or windward islands. there's also the chance it could thread the needle, go into the gulf of mexico. everything bears watching and that's what we're going to do with this particular system, again, as we speak, it is about 100% chance, the national hurricane center believes, 100% chance this will become a named storm. meanwhile in terms of storms, we might see plenty of them in parts of the northern plains today. all the components are there, the high humidity, with that we also have a lot of heat. that could help

for years networks have been paying for big interview. they deny it, saying they're providing licensing fees for photos or videos, but it's a fig leaf and everyone knows it. abc news has been one of the worst offenders paying casey anthony $200,000 shortly before she was indicted in the murder of her young daughter and $10,000 to $15,000 to meagan broussard, one of her online pals. but this week i learned abc is getting out of the checkbook business under pressure from chris cuomo, who did the interview, the network is banning payments except perhaps in extraordinary circumstance. spokesman ben sherwood says the payments have become a crutch. will other networks follow suit or score more exclusives with abc out of the pay to play game? >>> here's what bothers me about the latest coverage of piers morgan. i don't have a clue if he had knowledge of phone hacking when he was the daily editor. but they've convicted him with very little evidence, such as when he was asked about the nasty down in the gutter stuff in a 2009 interview with bbc ra

i think it's also important to take note that one of the big issues that the white house has had with the house republican plan and what's really been seen as an area that needed to be negotiated and really could be the thing that could lead to a break-through on a deal is this idea of if you're going to have a two-part increase in the debt ceiling that would take the debt ceiling through the next election, november 2012, it was really how you tied that second increase in the debt ceiling after several months. the whouts senate democrats didn't like the way house republicans were doing it. they felt like it would have led to some sort of chaotic situation like we've seen with all of this back and forth over increasing the debt ceiling. they would have seen that again somewhere around the new year and didn't want to do that. they're looking at really that sort of seam, if you will, in the contempt of of this framework to maybe work it out in a way that is more amenable to the white house and to democrats. >> brianna keilar at the white house live for us tonight. cnn is dedicated to pro
